TPC Printing & Packaging has taken a major step in becoming a more environmentally sustainable organization by partnering with start-up company Greener Planet, LLC. Greener Planet, LLC is the brain-child of the Schmissrauter family. Long known for their community involvement, the Schmissrauters recognized a need, that small- and medium- sized businesses needed assistance to become more environmentally sustainable. On July 1, 2008, Greener Planet, LLC was created to meet that need. Greener Planet has already begun evaluating TPC's current environmental and safety programs. In September 2008, Greener Planet facilitated an audit by SGS SSC which resulted in TPC receiving both Forest Stewardship Council® and Sustainable Forestry Initiative® chain-of-custody certifications. Greener Planet is currently working to facilitate the Candidate Pending Verification status of the Sustainable Green Printer Partnership and to enhance TPC's current waste paper recycling program. The partnership with Greener Planet, LLC is one more way in which TPC remains committed to its customers, its employees, and its community.
Sustainable Forestry Initiative
Sustainable Forestry Initiative (SFI®) is a fully independent, charitable organization dedicated to promoting sustainable forest management. SFI works with conservation groups, local communities, resource professionals, landowners, and countless other organizations and individuals who share our passion for responsible forest management. The standard is used widely across North America, and has strong acceptance in the global marketplace so we can deliver a steady supply of third-party certified wood from well-managed forests. SFI chain-of-custody certification extends into the marketplace by tracking fiber content from certified lands through production and manufacturing to the end product. By achieving an SFI Chain-of-Custody certification, TPC Printing & Packaging complies with the highest social and environmental standards on the market.
Forest Stewardship Council
Forest Stewardship Council (FSC®) is an independent, non-governmental, not for profit organization established to promote the responsible management of the world's forests. It provides standard setting, trademark assurance and accreditation services for companies and organizations interested in responsible forestry. Products carrying the FSC label are independently certified to assure consumers that they come from forests that are managed to meet the social, economic and ecological needs of present and future generations. FSC has offices in more than 45 countries. FSC Chain of Custody certification tracks the FSC certified material through the production processes all the way to the store. Obtaining FSC certification ensures TPC Printing & Packaging complies with the highest social and environmental standards on the market.
